HTTP based DCV or file-based validation is a domain validation process where the domain owner need to upload a file containing a unique identifier given to the certificate applicant by the Certificate Authority (CA). The CA server will locate and check this file to confirm the proof of the requestor of the certificate for that domain.

The CA/Browser Forum has now decided that this DCV method is inadequate for validation of wildcard sub domains. So, the file-based DCV is not available for wildcard certificates from Nov 22, 2021 for Sectigo SSL and Dec 1, 2021 for other CA SSL certificates.

If you order Wildcard SSL certificate, please select Email DCV or DNS CNAME DCV to complete validation process.
